Brand New School invited me to help illustrate for OpenAI’s first OOH campaign around ChatGPT for students. I collaborated with a few other illustrators to create a variety of unique, hand-drawn illustrations for each study prompt.
Check out Brand New School’s case study here! Problem: How do we connect with students in a way that felt useful, approachable, and built for real life —not just for the screen?
Solution: The team built a flexible design system that paired hand-drawn illustrations with minimalist UI, blending the analog with the digital. 40+ unique assets lived across animated OOH, static posters, and playful micro-interactions.Illustration: Claudia Alexandrino /

Illustration Process
The mindset was to illustrate in the perspective of a student doodling or taking notes in the margins while they study with ChatGPT. Each illustrator created multiple visual ideas for each prompt in a variety of styles — some doodles reflected the prompt while others were more imaginative. We explored with the visual hierarchy of the doodle and the prompt — some earlier explorations show doodles taking up the entire artboard or interacting with the prompt bubbles, which ended up feeling too distracting.
Below is a snippet of all the doodles I drew!

We were also asked to create bespoke illustrations for a cafe pop-up to promote the student campaign. Using the same doodle visual language, I helped create illustrations that combined student life with coffee ☕️.
